We often go through life experiencing challenges that are unique to our own personal relationships, schooling/careers, self-discovery/development, or spiritual/religious journeys.

It is with this understanding that mental health issues and life’s emotional struggles can be personalized to each and every individual, understood and emphasized from your particular point of view.

Anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem and/or vocational challenges can all interconnect and weave together to form a complex, yet complicated picture of your particular struggles.

About Me

I offer rural mental health support & therapy in Wellington, Waterloo, & Perth counties in Drayton, Ontario. Serving individuals, couples, & groups.

I am a Registered Social Worker in Ontario and hold a Masters of Social Work Degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.  I have been practicing as a Mental Health Therapist since 2016.  My family and I live in a rural town just north of Elmira, Ontario.

I am an individual who has excellent interpersonal and professional characteristics. Passionate and dedicated to empathetic relational approaches to psychotherapy, I bring these attributes to each role I have held, including Clinical Social Work, Child Welfare, and a Mental Health Facilitator.

I am passionate about providing accessible mental health supports to rural communities.  I have a particular interest in working with people in the agricultural community and with first responders across Southern Ontario.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach to  therapy is to try and get a “bigger picture” of what is going on. It is through a relational approach to therapy that I establish a trusting and strong relationship with my clients (who wants to be vulnerable to a complete stranger?) in order to affect meaningful change.

As a therapist, I understand that it’s not easy to discuss your “problems” with a complete stranger. I ask that you give therapy a try – you might be surprised at your ability to open up and experience a meaningful change by feeling heard, validated, and supported without judgement.

I have received post-graduate training and am certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2016.  Along with CBT I draw from multiple modalities to tailor the therapeutic process to clients’ specific needs.  Some of those approaches include:

  • Attachment-based
  • Compassion Focused
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS
  • Narrative
  • Trauma Focused
Come as You Are

You may believe that it is beyond your grasp to change your self-esteem. It certainly takes hard work but begin with becoming aware of the negative assumptions you hold of yourself. With time, patience, and compassion, you have the potential to begin changing the narrative of your own self-perception.

I accept all clients regardless of what life’s challenges has brought you to therapy – your first step is always the hardest, but I believe that change is always possible.
